AKURE — A socio-political group, Afenifere, yesterday, reviewed the incident that happened at the sitting of the Presidential Advisory Committee, PAC, on National Conference/Dialogue in Edo state and described it as embarrassing.
The group, however, asked the Senator Femi Okunrounmu-led commiittee not to be taken aback by such distractions, but to move forward with the national assignment.
This was contained in a communique issued after a meeting in Akure by the leaders of the group at the country home of its chairman, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
The group also appealed to both the Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to shift ground on the contending issues which had led to the closng of universities for over four months.
Afenifere’s Publicity Secretary,Yinka Odumakin, who read the communique after a meeting, said the group was not happy with the incident which was a diversion “from the rich and real presentation made by the real stake- holders”
The group, however, commended the advisory committee for handling the situation in a mature way.
“We commended the advisory committee for the mature manner they handled the whole issue and we advise them to maintain their cool as they go around meeting stakeholders.
“They are bound to meet provocations in the course of their business and as a committee they must patiently listen to all shapes of opinions.”
The group said that the consultations embarked upon by the Advisory Committee has been impressive with the turn-out of the ethnic nationalities.
On the four mouth old strike, Afenifere called on the Federal Government and the striking ASUU to shift ground by finding a middle course in resolving the four- month old strike.
